How do I become a foster carer?
A foster carer? Me? It starts with a conversation.
If you’re thinking about fostering, we understand that you may have a mix of emotions, a list of questions, and maybe even a few reservations. Your fostering journey with us starts with a conversation.
Becoming a foster carer is a life-changing journey — and we’re here to guide you through it.
The first step is to get in touch with our fostering team to express your interest. We’ll have an informal chat to answer your questions and help you decide if fostering is right for you. Next, you’ll complete an application form and begin an assessment process.
This includes home visits, background checks, and training to help prepare you for the role. It’s also a chance for us to get to know you and understand the kind of fostering that would suit you best. Once approved by our fostering panel, you’ll be ready to welcome a child or young person into your home — with full support from our team every step of the way.
You don’t need special qualifications — just patience, empathy, and a willingness to make a difference.
