Annual appreciation event
Once a year we gather as many of our foster carers that can make it for an evening of food, music, raffle and fun to say thank you for their ongoing commitment. At our annual appreciation evening in March, we presented ‘Fostering Stars’ awards to two of our fostering households, both of whom were nominated by fostering staff and other foster carers.
Events in the community
We also hold fun days, Christmas catch ups, picnics, and events at Shire Hall like our recent ‘Knit & Natter’ where staff and foster carers gathered to knit squares which we transformed into cushions to be given to children entering care.
Celebrating our foster carers' achievements
We also love to celebrate the achievements of our foster carers. In 2024, our foster carers Jacqueline and John G ran every single Park Run in Gloucestershire to raise awareness of fostering with your local council. We were so proud of them, and they featured in news across the county.
We celebrate our foster carers’ milestones too. Every 5 years someone fosters for us is rewarded with a gift and flowers presented by their supervising social worker, and we feature their photo in our quarterly Fostering Newsletter.
