Introducing our new Fostering Panel film

GCC's new short film seeks to offer transparency and reassurance to those thinking of becoming foster carers and those nearing their panel date.

We’re pleased to share a new five‑minute Fostering Panel film that gives prospective foster carers a clear and reassuring insight into what happens when they attend panel. Many applicants tell us that this part of the process can feel daunting, so the film lifts the curtain on how the panel works, who is involved, and what applicants can expect on the day.

This short film plays an important role in strengthening our recruitment and support offer. It helps reduce anxiety by explaining the process in a calm and accessible way, increases transparency across the fostering journey, and builds trust with those considering opening their homes to a Gloucestershire child.

The film also supports early‑stage recruitment by giving people confidence from the outset, while preparing those already in assessment for the next step. Crucially, it ensures consistent information is shared across our social work teams and panel members.
