Making Every Adult Matter (MEAM) Gloucestershire

Making Every Adult Matter (MEAM) brings organisations across Gloucestershire together to improve how support is provided for adults facing several challenges at the same time.

People’s needs often span health, housing, safety and wellbeing. When support is split across different services, it can be harder to respond in a coordinated way. MEAM promotes collaboration so that support is more joined‑up, compassionate and effective.

Multiple disadvantage is when someone is dealing with more than one difficult issue at the same time. These challenges can affect everyday life and make it harder to get the right help. They include:

  • Mental or physical health problems
  • Trauma
  • Homelessness
  • Addiction
  • Domestic abuse
  • Problems with the criminal justice system
  • Poverty or discrimination

As these challenges often overlap, people may need support from several services at once. When those services are not well connected, people can miss out on the help that would benefit them most.

Working together to support people with multiple needs

MEAM Gloucestershire aims to change this by helping organisations work together, be flexible and focus on the whole person. This is not a new service or a referral route. It is a network of organisations, teams and people coming together to:

  • work more closely together
  • learn from each other
  • improve how services support adults facing multiple challenges

Who get can involved

We welcome involvement from people and groups across Gloucestershire, including:

  • Statutory services
  • Voluntary and community organisations
  • Lived or living experience

We want to make sure every adult is seen, listened to and supported in a way that reflects all of their needs. No single service can do this on its own, but by working together we can offer support that is kinder, more joined‑up and more effective.
