Multi-agency safeguarding policy and procedures

The Care Act 2014 sets out a clear legal framework for how local authorities and other statutory agencies should protect adults with care and support needs at risk of abuse or neglect.

Government guidance

This guidance is about developing and implementing multi-agency policies and procedures to protect adults with care and support needs from abuse and neglect.

Policy and procedures

This policy explains the approach taken to safeguarding adults in Gloucestershire. The procedures then outline how agencies and individuals should work together to put the policy into practice.

We have also provided key sections of the procedures as separate documents below.

Making Safeguarding Personal Toolkit

The Making Safeguarding Personal (MSP) Toolkit provides practical guidance for effective safeguarding, supported by tools and real-life examples to promote best practice. It includes an overview of core topics, links to key resources, and downloadable exercises and case studies for use in supervision, team meetings and learning forums.

Published by the Local Government Association, the toolkit is divided into three sections:

  • Providing information and support in safeguarding.
  • Upholding the rights of people involved in safeguarding.
  • Achieving resolution and recovery in safeguarding.
