Safeguarding adults procedure: key steps

This flowchart gives an overview of the Gloucestershire Adult Safeguarding Procedures, showing the key steps, decision points and responsibilities when a safeguarding concern is raised.

  • Immediate safety needs are meet.
  • Concern is referred into the local adult safeguarding process.

Concern Decision-Making

  • Check actions taken to address immediate risks.
  • Checks made and additional information gathered.
  • Share information.
  • Provision of information and advice.
  • Decision made whether Care Act s42 Duty of Enquiry triggered.

  • The enquiries made and actions taken are lawful and proportionate.
  • Gain views, consent and desired outcomes of adult.
